Housing Affordability
I will propose the Community Preservation Act to fight back against the rise of gentrification in our district. This Act will provide federal funding to create or boost existing Land Trusts to give people access to affordable homes.

Public Transit
I will help Organize riders in Houston and support the INVEST Act which would secure millions of dollars in federal funds to improve public transportation in Houston.

Immigration
I will work to improve the immigration process for all who wish to become a citizen, making the process more streamlined and not a pay to win system. I will also support legislation introduced by Zoe Lofgren to move immigration cases to the federal bench.

Healthcare
I will commit to protect Medicare and Medicaid

Taxes
With the growing imbalance of our tax structure, I wish to close the carried interest loophole and expand the Earned Income Tax Credit to support working individuals and families.

Education
I wish to fully fund the Child Care and Development Block Grant and establish Universal Pre-K in Schools. I will always advocate for free school lunches in every school. I also wish to lift the $300 cap on teachers in supply reimbursement as teachers constantly have to spend more to take care of their students.

Path forward for Felons
I wish to provide resources and services to the people in my district to not allow individuals who completed their Felony Offense to be blocked from gaining meaningful employment. If we expect people to rehabilitate from their prior offenses, we must provide a path to do so.

Student Loan Support
No student should ever have to be stuck with loans when completing their course. I wish to create a path to student loan forgiveness while pushing back against the agencies who promote this predatory practice. We should allow students who wish to further their education a clear path with no hidden fees.
What Corisha will Bring to the District?
While fighting for the issues above to be a strong progressive advocate in DC, I wish to bring other services to our district offices, such as:
Making our Offices Community Centers
Whenever you visit an office anywhere in the district, you can be provided with a list of services from job hunting, to local community resources who are in the district, actively helping people in our district every day.
Holding Quarterly Town Halls
I wish to bring the service of town halls to multiple parts of the district, and provide in-person and online access to our town halls so that you can get exclusive updates, and have a conversation about what else I can do for the district. No one will be turned away.
Creating a Youth Program for Future Leaders
In order for our district to continue to be at its best, we must train a new generation of leaders who can help unite our party and remove the backroom selection process that currently goes into our candidates. When I finish my term, I promise to have a wide selection of leaders for the district to decide who serves them.
